Building on the success of the regular
festival we are hoping to co-ordinate all local millenium events and
organise a weekend of celebration on Salisbury plains above the village.
We would like to hear about plans that already exist and new ideas you may
have. Get in touch and get involved!
Market Lavington was the first village in
Wiltshire to host an event as part of the Touring scheme programme. The
'Jazz a Belles' concert was a great success and, judging by the response we
received in the audience survey, there is a tremendous appetite for similar
events in the future. The scheme is currently organised and funded by the
District Council and planning is already underway for the next event in
April 1999. Thanks to all those who helped and supported the evening. If
you have any ideas for future entertainment evenings, or would like to
help, please do get in touch.
The next Rural Touring Scheme event is a one woman play written and
performed by Alison Neale, on June 12th at Market Lavington School. The
performance begins at 7.30pm.
This summer Lavington Arts organised a new
event for the village. Lavington Community Market took place in the car park
and gardens of the Green Dragon. Highlights of the day included the
wonderful Dragon Puppet created in the childrens art workshop, live
music from local singer / guitarist Victoria Burt and of course the
performance by the world famous 'Smallest Theatre in the World'. We
were very pleased to be able to bring such a wide range of attractions to
the village and are already planning a bigger and better market day for
next year.
